Stock Management & Control
This is the "bread and butter" of the job. You aren't just watching boxes; you're managing capital.
Receiving: Inspecting incoming shipments for damage and verifying that the quantities match the purchase orders or delivery notes.
Inventory Tracking: Maintaining accurate records of all stock movements (in and out) using a manual ledger or an Inventory Management System (IMS).
Stock Levels: Monitoring "reorder points" to ensure the business never runs out of essential items, while also preventing overstocking.
2. Organization & Physical Maintenance
A messy store is an inefficient store.
Categorization: Labelling and arranging items logically (e.g., by SKU, size, or frequency of use) to ensure quick retrieval.
Safety & Cleanliness: Ensuring the storage area is clean, well-lit, and compliant with safety regulations to prevent accidents or item degradation.
Space Optimization: Constantly evaluating the layout to make the best use of the available square footage.
